Grounded Support: Understanding and Responding to Stress in Yourself and Others
For PREMIUM coaches & mentors only.
Many PREMIUM students are ambitious, driven, and eager to perform at a high level. But behind that drive, some struggle with the pressures of high expectations — from themselves, their team, the client, and the programme. Many students juggle thesis work, PREMIUM, personal life and after-university decisions all at once. A combination that often leads to high stress levels, even in those who seem to be coping well. While they may appear in control, stress, self-doubt, and even burnout tendencies can simmer below the surface.
As Mentors and Coaches in the PREMIUM programme, you play a key role in supporting students through moments of growth, uncertainty, and pressure.
In this interactive workshop, we explore how stress works in the body and mind, how to recognise when pressure becomes too much, and how your own grounded presence can be a powerful resource for support.
We combine psychoeducation with reflection and embodied exercises. You’ll walk away with a deeper understanding of stress, a felt sense of your own stress responses, and practical tools you can use, both to regulate yourself and to co-regulate others in moments of overwhelm.
During this session, you will:
Understand how stress affects the nervous system, and why it can sneak up in high achievers;
Recognise the signs of stress in yourself and others, even when masked by performance;
Learn the difference between healthy stress and harmful overload;
Explore your own stress patterns and grounding strategies;
Discover the role of presence, mirror neurons, and co-regulation in mentorship;
Practice simple yet powerful tools: grounding, breathing, and nervous system resets;
Take home practical tools for checking in and opening up conversation;
